    ASciNA Award Ceremony 2009

    The ASciNA Awards 2009 were awarded in the categories ‘Young Scientist Award’ and ‘Junior PI Award’ on November 12, 2009 at 6:30 pm at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, DC. In addition, Prof. Gary Cohen, Director of the Center for Austrian Studies at the University of Minnesota was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class. Ambassador Christian Prosl performed the award ceremony in attendance of more than 50 Austrian guests. The evening concluded with a reception in honor of the scientists.     Austrian Science Talk 2009 in New Orleans

    This year's Talk 'Under Crisis Conditions' took place on October 3, 2009 in New Orleans, LA. On October 1 and 2 the FFG organized a training program for researchers on how to successfully participate in the 7th EU Framework Program. The Austrian Science Talk brings together Austrian scientists and scholars in North America with a delegation of Austrian experts in Science, Research, and Technology Policy to discuss policy developments and new opportunities.     “In Search of Memory” Tour – USA 2009

    After the release of “In Search of Memory" in Vienna, Austria, in May 2008, Nobel Prize winner Eric Kandel and director/producer Petra Seeger were touring the United States with the 95-minute documentary film. “In Search of Memory” is based on Dr. Kandel’s 2006 autobiography, which weaves together the neuroscientist’s research career with his personal biography. The Office of Science & Technology (OST), in cooperation with FilmForm Köln, together with its partner institutions, organized the film screening, Q&A Sessions and book signings with stops in Washington (DC), New York (NY), Boston (MA), Los Angeles (CA), and San Francisco (CA). Austrian scientists were able to meet with Dr. Eric Kandel prior to the film screening at a ‘Meet & Greet”. For further information please follow the link.
