    Networking Event "Krampus goes US"

    The Office of Science and Technology (OST) and ASciNA hosted a typically Austrian "Krampus" event at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, DC, on December 5, 2006. The-first-of-its-kind networking event allowed Austrian scientists to exchange experiences and meet new colleagues in a casual setting. During the event, the OST presented an outlook for its agenda for 2007, and ASciNA took the opportunity to award Philipp Steger, director of the OST, with a lifetime honorary ASciNA membership.     Roundtable Discussion "Current Developments in Austrian Science Policy"

    In the course of the OST Visitors Program, Barbara Weitgruber from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF) met with Austrian scientists of the Greater Washington, DC, area in order to provide an overview and to discuss current developments in Austria's science policy. Ms. Weitgruber is in charge of strategic projects in international relations with a special focus on the BMWF's Interface Science Research Education project. The roundtable discussion was held at the Austrian Embassy, and was followed by a dinner reception.

    Discussion: Director of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) at Harvard University

    On October 4, the Office of Science and Technology (OST) and Professor Martin Nowak, head of the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University, hosted an evening discussion followed by a buffet dinner in honor of Dr. Henrietta Egerth, director of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
