"Building bridges of knowledge and expertise between Austria and North America" ist die Mission des Office of Science & Technology (OST) an der Österreichischen Botschaft in Washington, DC. Das OST ist die strategische Schnittstelle im Bereich von Wissenschaft, Forschung & Entwicklung und Technologie zwischen Österreich und Nordamerika.

Zu unseren Kernkompetenzen zählen:
  • Aufbau und Betreuung des OST Scientist Network - ein interdisziplinäres Netzwerk österreichischer ForscherInnen, R&D ManagerInnen und S&T Policy ExpertInnen in Nordamerika
  • Beratung und Information über nordamerikanische und österreichische Wissenschafts-, Forschungs- und Technologiepolitik
  • Unterstützung und Beratung bei der Anbahnung wissenschaftlicher F&E Kooperationen zwischen österreichischen und nordamerikanischen Institutionen

Launch: ASciNA Mentoring Program
ASciNA and Brainpower Austria launched a new Mentoring Program on July 1, 2009, and currently accept applications from mentors and mentees until August 15, 2009. The Mentoring Program aims to develop a mentoring framework, where established Austrian scientists/scholars and professionals provide guidance, experience and wisdom to early career researchers from Austria. Now Available! Guide to Residence and Employment of Foreign Researchers in Austria
A new guideline with useful information for foreign scientists going to Austria, published by the Federal Ministry of Interior, is now available. Please follow the link to find all detailed information concerning regulations for entry and residence.

Austrian Science Talk 2009 in New Orleans

This year's event follows the motto 'Under Crisis Conditions' and takes place on October 3, 2009 in New Orleans, LA - side events start October 1. The Austrian Science Talk aims to intensify the transatlantic relationship between the United States of America and Austria. Every year a delegation of Austrian experts in Science & Technology, Research, Industry and Politics discuss the latest policies and opportunities in North America and Austria. The event provides an excellent opportunity for networking with other scientists and representatives from Austria. Lecture of the Austrian Scientist of the Year 2008, Prof. Fatima Ferreira, at the Austrian Embassy on June 29th
The 3rd lecture of the Austrian Scientist of the Year took place on June, 29. The laureate of 2008 is Prof. Fatima Ferreira, an allergist who heads the renowned Christian Doppler Laboratory of Allergy Diagnosis Research at the University of Salzburg, Austria. Ferreira presented her scientific work "Allergy vaccines: waking up a sleeping beauty," emphasizing the importance of developing new, more specialized therapy approaches to cure allergies, which already affect 20 to 30 percent of the population of industrialized countries.
