![]() Earl Lane Senior Communications Officer American Association for the Advancement of Science Washington, DC Earl Lane is a senior communications officer for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington, DC. He is director of news and information for AAAS and administrator of the AAAS-Kavli Science Journalism Awards. Before joining AAAS in 2004, he worked for Newsday for 36 years, primarily as a science writer covering the physical and biological sciences, NASA, and federal science policy. He shared in the 1996 Pulitzer Prize, for coverage of the TWA Flight 800 crash off Long Island, and in the 1991 AAAS-Westinghouse Science Journalism Award, for a series of articles on genetic research.
