In 2004, the industrialist and former Austrian Minister of Finance Dr. Hannes Androsch founded the Hannes Androsch Foundation at the  Austrian Academy of Science (OeAW). The foundation has placed particular emphasis on research projects focusing on "labor and the strengthening of social balance and peace." Once a year, the Hannes Androsch Foundation also awards the Hannes Androsch Prize, which is worth €100,000.
