Magdalena Wirtl is studying business administration and economics at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz. In May 2010, she will start working as an associate in KPMG's Corporate Finance team in Linz.

Besides her studies, she has already gained experience in the area of science and technology policy while working as a project assistant at the Institute of Graphics and Parallel Processing of JKU and in the Department of Computer Science of the Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität (LMU) Munich. Among the various projects, Wirtl worked primarily on the “European Grid Initiative Design Study” (EGI_DS), which was funded by the European Commission and involved interaction with policy makers and funding organizations across Europe and beyond. In addition, she has been a teaching assistant at the Institute of Finance, Department of Corporate Finance, at JKU.

Wirtl specializes in corporate finance and marketing and completed her diploma thesis on “Mergers & Acquisitions in Emerging Markets” in autumn 2009. She plans to graduate with a degree in economics in July 2010.
