In fact, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), the union that represents 57,000 scientists and other professionals across Canada's public sector, held its first Science Policy Symposium - Public Science in Canada: Strengthening Science to Protect Canadians - in September 2007. This acclaimed groundbreaking event gathered together government, industry, and academic representatives from Canada and around the world to discuss the state of Canadian public science.
