Since August 2008, Michael Hofer has supported the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) as a program manager.

As a researcher, he has worked worked at the University of California in Davis and the University of Minnesota. He is co-author of 25 peer-reviewed publications and of Architectural Geometry, a university textbook published in 2007. In his spare time he is a university lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology.

Hofer studied mathematics and geometry in Austria and the US and received his PhD in 2005 from the Vienna University of Technology.
