taken steps toward putting the spotlight on German studies and seeking to build on transatlantic and German-American relations. Volker Kaiser, CGS director, explains the many reasons for starting CGS. "We wanted to break departmental boundaries and barriers, as well  as promote interdisciplinary research and give more visibility to the culture in all senses of the word."
