Wolfgang Jank is associate professor of Decisions, Operations & Information Technologies at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, and is affiliated with the Center for Electronic Markets & Enterprises.


He is interested in applying ideas from statistics and data mining to problems in electronic commerce, marketing, and operations management. Jank’s research has been published in the literature of statistics, data mining, information systems, and marketing. He has authored over fifty refereed articles and book chapters, and has presented his work at national and international meetings. After moving to the University of Maryland, he initiated, together with Dr. Shmueli, a new research area on Statistical Challenges in eCommerce.


Jank received his master’s degree from the Technical University of Aachen (Germany) and his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Florida.
