GM Foods are produced from genetically modified organisms (GMO) and have their DNA composition altered through genetic engineering. Some alterations have led the way to the creation of GM crops that are herbicide- and insect-resistant and some that are resistant to particular viruses and to extreme weather conditions, such as drought, which are common to certain environments. Genetic engineering can also produce animals that have increased resistance and that will produce better yields of eggs, meat, or milk.
