Discussion: "Ozone Depletion and Global Environmental Change"

On April 23, 2003 the highly accomplished Austrian scientists Ingrid Kohl and Thomas Lörting from the research group of Prof. Mario Molina (Nobel laureate 1995), at
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), presented their work at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC in an event organized by the Office of Science & Technology (OST). The panel discussed questions such as: What are the effects of the measures agreed to in The Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer, a landmark international agreement designed to protect the stratospheric ozone layer? Where do tropospheric aerosols fit in? Are there ways to predict changes in future surface temperatures? The presentation was a must for all who wish to understand the ABCs of this fascinating, controversial and global phenomenon.
