Confernce: "A Hub for Capacity Building in Medicine and Bioscience in Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa"
On September 29, 2004, the Office of Science & Technology (OST) organized a conference in cooperation with the Vienna School of Clinical Research (VSCR), the American Austrian Foundation (AAF), and the Medical University of Vienna on the topic: "Vienna: A Hub for Capacity-Building in Medicine and Bioscience Research in Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa." The conference was held at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, DC. Austrian Ambassador Eva Nowotny opened the event. Keynote speakers included Dr. Heinrich Klech, medical director of the Eli Lilly Area Medical Center Vienna and vice president of the VSCR, Dr. Wolfgang Aulitzky, director of the Medical Program of the American Austrian Foundation, Dr. Hans-Georg Eichler, vice-president of the Medical University of Vienna and president of the VSCR, and Michael Häupl, mayor and governor of Vienna.
