Wolfgang Polt is currently heading the Vienna office of the Institute for Technology and Regional Policy of Joanneum Research Ltd, one of the largest public contract research organizations in Austria.

He has long worked in the area of science, technology and innovation policy, especially in the international context. His work experience includes the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Commission, where he coordinated a number of large international projects. As a policy consultant Polt worked in Austria, Finland, Japan, Switzerland and in several Eastern European countries. He is representing Austria in the ‘Six countries Program for Innovation’. His areas of work include international comparative project on science, technology and innovation policy, consulting, design and evaluation of technology and innovation program and policies.

Polt holds a degree in Economics from the University of Vienna.
