![]() Eva Nowotny Former Austrian Ambassador to the United States Austrian Embassy Washington, D.C. Eva Nowotny is the former Austrian ambassador to the United States from 2003 to 2008. Prior to assuming her post in Washington, DC, she held the position of Director General of European Integration and Economic Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Vienna. Her first assignments as a diplomat took her to Cairo as First Secretary with the Austrian Embassy in Egypt, and to New York as Counselor to the Austrian Permanent Mission to the U.N., and Vice President of the Special Political Committee of the 36th U.N. General Assembly. From 1983 to 1992 she was Foreign Policy Advisor to Austrian Federal Chancellor Franz Vranitzky, then became Austria’s Ambassador to France and the United Kingdom. Nowotny, who holds a Ph.D. in history and German literature, has been with the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1973. Contributions
