o structures and forms of expression of the aristocratic society (17th and 19th centuries)
o social history of fine arts (17th and 20th centuries in particular consideration of Vienna)
o history of schools (19th and 20th centuries in particular consideration of the Austrian history of schools)
o history of the life cycle
o studies on the relationship between "nature" and "culture"

Honors and awards:
o 1978: promotion award of the Vienna Chamber of Labor for the dissertation "forms of expression of absolutist rule"
o 1979: promotion award of the City of Vienna for science and public learning
o 1981: Theodor Körner Award
o 1997: Leopold Kunschak Award
o 2000: Medal of Honor of the International Nestroy Society
o 2003: Decoration of Honor in Gold of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration
o 2006: awarding of the title "Senator of Honor of the Vienna University of Technology"
