On the occasion of Austria's EU Presidency and its close ending on June 30, 2006, bridges took the opportunity to interview Martin Bartenstein, the Austrian Federal Minister of Economics and Labour since Febuary 2000, on the Austrian innovation system. The following interview, in which Dr. Bartenstein answers questions on Austria's R&D activities and their significance in the European and international context, not only looks at the EU Presidency's focal points in this area but also addresses Austria's future prospects as an attractive R&D location.
