Kurt Grünewald is a member of the Austrian Parliament and has been the science and health spokesperson for the Green Party in the Austrian Parliament since 1999.

After his studies in medicine, he became a medical doctor and later associate professor of hematology and oncology at the Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Innsbruck, also publishing several papers on the molecular biology of human tumors as well as medical ethics, health, and university and science policy.

Grünewald holds an M.D. from the University of Innsbruck.
