Harald Isemann was named
Administrative Director of the privately-funded Institute of Molecular
Pathology (IMP) in Vienna in February 2004. IMP is a subsidiary of
Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical
companies. Headed by Prof. Kim Nasmyth, the Institute is a basic
biomedical research center and is located within the Campus Vienna
BioCenter, a center for molecular biology and genetic research. “My
experience working with Technologie Impulse Ltd. (TIG), enabled me to
acquire the necessary expertise for my current position at IMP,” Mr.
Isemann said, adding, “IMP’s reputation as one of Europe’s leading
research institutions made the job offer particularly attractive for
me.”

Chairman of the newly-founded Austrian Science Board at its inaugural
meeting in December 2003. The Science Board is one of the components of
the University Reform Law (BGBl. I No. 120/2002), passed by the
Austrian parliament in July 2002 which aims to reorganize Austrian
universities.

The 2004 Annual NAFSA Conference will
take place May 23-28, 2004 in Baltimore, Maryland. This year, the
Austrian Exchange Service (ÖAD) will sponsor an information booth on
behalf of the working group "Higher Education Marketing Austria" at the
conference. In addition to representatives from the ÖAD, a number of
Austrian educational institutions, universities, universities of the
arts, and schools of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen) will be also be
present in Baltimore. The times at which these representatives are
available will be announced at the booth.
