Sylvia Nedbal studies business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
She gained international experience through a project sponsored by the European Union and as a result of her attendance/participation in the “Alpen-Adria” Summer University. During her studies she spent half a year in Lisbon, Portugal. Her work experience not only gave her insight into the public sector, but also into private industry with an emphasis on banking. In 2008 Nedbal joined the Office of Sciience & Technology and worked as an intern until the end of March.
Nedbal is currently working on her master's thesis.

Stephan Neuhäuser has been a member of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture since 1992, where he is responsible for international cooperation.
From March to September 2003, he was invited to join the Office of Science & Technology in Washington, DC as Senior Visiting Expert. In 2000 he participated in an Austrian-Finnish exchange program for civil servants and spent several months at the Suomen Akatemia in Finland. From 1999 to 2002, He was primary point of contact for Austria's participation at the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Beijing, China as well as for the European, Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Science Ministers in Brasilia, Brazil.
Neuhäuser holds a master's degree in History and Political Sciences from the University of Vienna, Austria.

Christian Neumann has been working as a Management Consultant in Munich, Germany since 2007.
He joined the Office of Science & Technology in Washington, D.C. as an intern for three months in 2004, where he was primarily concerned with the analysis of relevant news on science and technology issues and the first volume of bridges. Based on his advanced knowledge of IT-applications, a number of institutions, such as the Federation of Austrian Industry, NIKON-Austria, the Creditanstalt offered him internships and part-time positions.

He wrote his diploma thesis in the field of User Innovation with a focus on Analogical Transfer.

Bettina Neunteufl works in the department of public relations at the Vienna University of Technology.

Norman Neureiter

Norman Neureiter has been the director of the AAAS Center for Science, Technology, and Security Policy since May 2004.
Before joining AAAS he worked both in private industry and in public service. He entered the US Foreign Service in 1965, and was named deputy scientific attaché at the US Embassy in Bonn. In 1967, he was transferred to Warsaw as the first US scientific attaché in Eastern Europe with responsibility for Poland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. Neureiter returned to Washington in 1969 as assistant for international affairs to the president's science advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology. In 1973 he joined Texas Instruments, where he held a number of staff and management positions including manager, East-West Business Development; manager, TI Europe Division; vice president, Corporate Staff; and vice president of TI Asia until his retirement in 1996. In 2000, he was appointed the first science and technology advisor to the US Secretary of State. In 2008 he received the Public Welfare Medal which honors the “extraordinary use of science for public good”.
Neureiter holds a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Rochester (1952) and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Northwestern University (1957).

Sabine Neyer is a member of the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research. Canice Nolan

Canice Nolan is first counselor and head of the Food Safety, Health, and Consumer Affairs Section at the Delegation of the European Commission in Washington DC.
Prior to this appointment, he worked for both the DG Research of the European Commission responsible for program management on Environment, Health, and Chemical Safety and for the DG Agriculture where he was responsible initially for pesticides residues legislation. Following the reorganization of the commission in 1999, this work moved to DG Health and Consumer Protection where he was head of the Plant Protection Products Sector – responsible for the management and development of legislation on pesticides evaluation, authorization, and use as well as the setting and monitoring of maximum residue limits for pesticides in food and feed.
Nolan holds a B.Sc. in zoology and a PhD in heavy metal toxicology from the University College Dublin.

Frederic Nordlund

Frederic Nordlund is currently the head of the European Space Agency (ESA) Washington Office, representing ESA in the US and Canada. In this capacity, he supports cooperative actions of ESA with NASA, NOAA, the CSA and many other entities.
In a previous capacity, he was an administrator at ESA's International Relations Department where he was responsible for ESA's relations with Japan, Canada, and many of ESA's activities with the United States. He contributed to coordination of international actions with ESA's Member States and negotiated numerous agreements with different governments and space agencies. Before starting his career in 1992 at ESA, he worked in various firms in Canada. Among other tasks, he contributed to the formulation of the first Canadian Long-Term Space Plan. He held positions in multiple professional associations - e.g., vice president, International, American Astronautical Society (AAS) - 2002-2004; member of the Board of the Washington Space Business Roundtable (2001-2005); etc.
Nordlund received both his Master's of Law and degree in political sciences from Bordeaux University, France, in 1986, and his LL.M. from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 1988. He is a graduate of the International Space University (Summer Session in 1989).

Martin Nowak

Martin Nowak is Director of the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University.
He went to the University of Oxford as an 'Erwin Schroedinger' scholar to work with Robert May in 1989. In 1992, Nowak became a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow and three years later became Head of Mathematical Biology and later became a professor of mathematical biology in 1997. In 1998 he moved from Oxford to Princeton to establish the first program in Theoretical Biology at the Institute for Advanced Study. In July 2003, Nowak moved to Harvard University as Professor of Mathematics and Biology. He has published more than 250 papers and is on the editorial board of various journals. His first book, 'Virus Dynamics', (together with Robert May) was published by Oxford University Press, 2000. His latest book, 'Evolutionary Dynamics', was published by Harvard University Press in 2006.Nowak is a corresponding member of the Austrian academy of sciences. He won the Weldon Memorial Prize, the Albert Wander Prize, the Akira Okubo Prize, the David Starr Jordan Prize and the Henry Dale Prize.
Nowak holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and mathematics from the University of Vienna.

Eva Nowotny is currently the Austrian ambassador to the United States, appointed in September 2003.
Prior to assuming her post in Washington, DC, she held the position of Director General of European Integration and Economic Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Vienna. Her first assignments as a diplomat took her to Cairo as First Secretary with the Austrian Embassy in Egypt, and to New York as Counselor to the Austrian Permanent Mission to the U.N., and Vice President of the Special Political Committee of the 36th U.N. General Assembly. From 1983 to 1992 she was Foreign Policy Advisor to Austrian Federal
Chancellor Franz Vranitzky, then became Austria’s Ambassador to France and the United Kingdom.
Nowotny, who holds a Ph.D. in history and German literature,
has been with the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1973.

Donal Nugent is a writer based in Dublin, Ireland.
Born in 1972, he studied Philosophy at Trinity College, Dublin, and has worked as a news journalist, magazine editor and speech writer. In 2003 he was Science Journalism Fellow with the Washington, DC-based Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST).
Nugent is currently pursuing a Master’s in Screenwriting with Dun Laoghaire College of Art, Design and Technology in his native Ireland and is developing a number of writing projects as part of this.

In addition to environmental issues she works with energy, labor, transportation, and health questions. Before her posting to Washington DC, Nurminen worked in the Political Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
Nurminen holds a master's of law from University of Helsinki and has studied European law at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
