Joseph Jamar

Trained as a lawyer and a specialist in international relations, Mr. Jamar worked for several years as Director of Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. Joseph Jamar joined the European Commission in 1989, where he worked successively in the education, training, press and research departments.
He is currently working for the Human Resource and Mobility Directorate within the Directorate General for Research, where he is responsible for setting up the European network of mobility centers as well as the communication policy around the Marie Curie Actions. As a Belgian and American national, Mr. Jamar has strived throughout the years to improve transatlantic relations in his areas of responsibility.

Wolfgang Jank

Wolfgang Jank is associate professor of Decisions, Operations & Information Technologies at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, and is affiliated with the Center for Electronic Markets & Enterprises. He is interested in applying ideas from statistics and data mining to problems in electronic commerce, marketing, and operations management.
Dr. Jank’s research has been published in the literature of statistics, data mining, information systems, and marketing. He has authored over fifty refereed articles and book chapters, and has presented his work at national and international meetings.
Dr. Jank received his master’s degree from the Technical University of Aachen (Germany) and his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Florida. After moving to the University of Maryland, he initiated, together with Dr. Shmueli, a new research area on Statistical Challenges in eCommerce.
