euraxess_logo.jpgEURAXESS Austria is part of the pan-European network "EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion" and supports measures for the promotion of mobility and career development of researchers. The national web sites www.euraxess.at and www.researchinaustria.at were updated and refreshed, as well as adapted to the layout of the pan-European EURAXESS portal: www.ec.europa.eu/euraxess .

EURAXESS Austria provides comprehensive up-to-date information and personalized assistance to all mobile researchers and their families who are seeking advice on issues related to their relocation across borders and support for the continuation of their careers in another member state of the European Union.

EURAXESS Austria is coordinated by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research. Mobile researchers are supported via the national network of EURAXESS Service Centers and Local Contact Points, which are the OeAD-GmbH (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research) and the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency), as well as numerous universities, organizations, and research institutions across Austria.

IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program 2010 Print E-mail

Summer Fellowship in Austria for Graduate Students in Natural and Social Sciences, Math, Policy, and Engineering

Each summer, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), located in Schloss Laxenburg near Vienna, Austria, hosts a selected group of graduate students from around the world, primarily doctoral, in its Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP). These students work closely with IIASA's senior scientists on projects within the Institute's 3 theme areas.  

Funding is available to cover travel to IIASA and a modest living allowance.

Assisted by the BOB team, translate your life science idea into a sound business concept and a professional business plan. Since the first competition in 2000, more than 40 companies have been founded and more than €170,000 in prize money has been awarded.

White House Seeks Public Input with Launch of "Public Access Policy Forum" Print E-mail

The Obama Administration is seeking public input on policies concerning access to publicly funded research results, such as those that appear in academic and scholarly journal articles. Currently, the National Institutes of Health require that research funded by its grants be made available to the public online at no charge within 12 months of publication. The latest updates on this initiative can be found at:

The Administration is seeking views as to whether this policy should be extended to other science agencies and, if so, how it should be implemented.

The Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President and the White House Open Government Initiative are launching a "Public Access Policy Forum" to invite public participation in thinking through what the Federal government's policy should be with regard to public access to published results of federally-funded research.
