Cooperation Agreement between MIT and Research Studios Austria Print E-mail

MIT SENSEable City Lab and Research Studio iSPACE are starting a collaboration in the area of GIScience, specifically in the following areas of applied research: creation of "sensible infrastructures," combination of live data sources, interoperability, process integration, real-time data integration, analysis of ecological phenomena integrating a socio-demographic viewpoint, integration and processing of diverse heterogeneous data sources, location-based services, and mobile applications.

The SENSEable City Laboratory is a research initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that studies the urban impact of new technologies. The increasing deployment of sensors and hand-held electronics in recent years has led to a completely new approach to the study of the built environment, which also changes the way cities are described, designed, and understood.

Call for papers: Rupert-Riedl Prize 2008 Print E-mail

The Club of Vienna an international association for the promotion of interdisciplinary research for Vienna, and the City of Vienna are awarding the €1,000 Rupert-Riedl Prize to interdisciplinary diploma theses and dissertations in the field of sustainable development.

To be eligible to participate, applicants must have completed their thesis or dissertation within the social sciences, the humanities, natural sciences, economics, or technology.
