In 2004, the industrialist and former minister of finance Dr. Hannes Androsch founded the Hannes Androsch Foundation at the Austrian Academy of Science (OEAW), a foundation that has placed particular emphasis on research projects on "labor and the strengthening of social balance and peace." The Hannes Androsch Foundation is the most important privately funded non-profit foundation established in Austria since 1945 with the exclusive purpose of supporting research in the social sciences. By 2010, the assets of the foundation are expected to increase to €10 million. In addition, the Hannes Androsch Prize is awarded for research in, or other contributions to, the social sciences.

Call for papers – The Scientific Award of the Austrian-Canadian Society Print E-mail

The Austrian-Canadian Society was founded in 2003 and considers itself a bilateral friendship society, with particular interest in bilateral contacts in the fields of traditional diplomacy, business, science, and culture. Interpersonal relationships are also of the highest importance in this regard. The society considers itself to be the central platform for bilateral exchange/ relationships between Austria and Canada and is constantly trying to deepen, as well as improve, the friendships and relationships between the two countries.

Lieben Prize 2007 Print E-mail

For the 4th time since they resumed awarding the Lieben Prize in 2004, The Ignaz Lieben Gesellschaft (ILG; Ignaz Lieben Society) will host the Lieben-Workshop. This year's topic is Science and Industry in Central Europe around 1900. The workshop will take place in the Technisches Museum Wien, November 5 & 6, 2007. The 2007 Lieben Prize will be awarded within the workshop.
