Ernst Mach grant worldwide for 2011/12 – Apply by March 1, 2012!
The 1- to 9-month grant targets postgraduates and PhD holders (under 35 years) from all countries except Austria for the purposes of research and/or study carried out in Austria. Monthly grants range between EUR 940 and EUR 1,040. Call for applications: Franz Werfel Grant for young university teachers of German language and Austrian literature
Apply by March 1, 2012 for the research grant targeted at researchers, postgraduates, PhD holders (under 35 years) from all countries except Austria. Franz Werfel grant-recipients will work as visiting researchers at Austrian university departments and carry out specialist studies in libraries, archives or at research institutions. The 4- to 9-month scholarship is available to researchers, postgraduates, and PhD holders of all nationalities who are focusing their studies on the field of history concerning Austria-related topics. bridges Lecture Series 2011: "But Will The Planet Notice? Why Only Economists – Not Recyclers – Can Stop Global Warming"On December 6, the Embassy of Austria hosted a lecture for Gernot Wagner’s talk “But Will The Planet Notice? Why Only Economists – Not Recyclers – Can Stop Global Warming”. Wagner presented his new book, and discussed this current topic with the audience. The lecture was held by Prof. Nebojsa Nakicenovic, Deputy Director of the International Institute for Applied System Analysis and Professor of Energy Economics at the Vienna University of Technology, Austria and took place on October 31st at 5:30pm in the AAAS Auditorium in Washington, DC. Prof. Nakicenovic provided an assessment of global energy perspectives including a brief overview of initiatives toward universal access, decarbonization, and efficiency improvements. The focus was on multiple co-benefits of such energy transformations and the required investments, institutional and policy initiatives. A wine reception concluded the evening.
